    Brisbane is promoted as Australia’s New World City. Brisbane is also identifiable as a subtropical city and a lifestyle city. But what is the perception of Brisbane from international audiences and investors?

    Brisbane Marketing’s reasons for ‘Why Brisbane”, and the international audience’s response, will be discussed by Steven Sylvester, Head of Investment Attraction.

    Brisbane was recognised with the Strategic Vision Award as part of fDi Magazine's ‘Global
    Cities of the Future report’, which also ranked the city 4th globally for its foreign direct
    investment strategy. This strong and rapidly growing industry support is based on a number
    of factors, the combination of which has created the ideal environment for investment,

    Popular culture is also a strong driver in shaping perceptions of a place. ABC iView’s most downloaded program is Bluey – a Brisbane-made and Brisbane-based children’s cartoon. Representations of Brisbane’s urban landscape are ingrained, as are daily Brisbane activities. As Bluey positions its global distribution, we will hear from producer Daley Pearson about the show’s Brisbane connections and how it is being promoted and received by international audiences.
    Understanding how we convey our city to audiences abroad, and what those audiences see as the positives and negatives of Brisbane, will help us to target land use and development outcomes, investment opportunities, and tourism offers, together with the aspects of our city that we want to protect and cherish for future generations.
