Reimagining Sydney
Successful expansion of the city to new areas like Western Parkland City hinges on providing good connectivity and liveability options
We have all been following, with unfolding concern, the spread of the COVID-19 Virus, and its implications in Australia and around the world. After much review and deliberation, the National Council of ULI Australia, in consultation with our Asia Pacific colleagues, have decided that the prudent course of action is for us to postpone the 2020 ULI Australia Summit, which was to take place March 26, 2020.
We have also decided to postpone all scheduled events from the present, until 1 May 2020. We will re-evaluate and follow health guidelines to decide when it is safe to start planning events again. The health of the community, our members, and staff, our are main priority.
We understand that this will be a disappointment, and an inconvenience, to many people who have made travel arrangements and were planning to attend and participate, but with the situation changing daily, and with more and more restrictions being brought into place, we feel it is better to make this call now, 2 weeks ahead, rather than have it forced on us closer to the Summit date.
In the context of the decision above, we can also advise you that in recent weeks, the ULI Australia National Council agreed with a ULI Asia Pacific request to host the next ULI Asia Pacific Convivium – ULI Asia Pacific’s second major event created just for Full Members -in Sydney. For those of you who were fortunate enough to attend the previous Convivium in Singapore, you will appreciate what an insightful and innovative gathering it was.
As we plan for the upcoming Convivium, we may explore the potential to combine the deferred Australia Summit with the next Asia Pacific Convivium. The Convivium will attract a very strong contingent of the best minds in ULI Asia Pacific and globally, and may provide us with the opportunity to have an Australian Summit with an unusually high international content and attendance. The date for the 2020 ULI Asia Pacific Convivium has been tentatively set for November 17-18. We will keep you posted as dates are confirmed and should any more notices be required as resultant of the current global issues.
If you would like to stay engaged with ULI digitally, ULI Asia Pacific has also been planning weekly webinars – you can find more information on those here. ULI members can also use Knowledge Finder to explore our many reports, case studies, and videos.
